Chapter 37

Partial Functionality (機能不全, Kinō Fuzen) is the 37th chapter of the Gantz manga, written and illustrated by Hiroya Oku.

An extremely sweaty Kei Kishimoto exposing her breasts and bra while her unbuttoned blouse is seen coming off. She is also holding an X-gun in her Gantz suit gloved covered right hand.

Synopsis[]

The chapter begins directly after the previous one ended; Joichiro Nishi has just jumped off the bridge and into the water below, with the Tanaka Alien soon following. The two begin battle, and Kei Kurono and Masaru Kato begin commentating, stating that they saw Joichiro briefly, at which point the Tanaka Alien destroys his invisibility device confirming their suspicions.

Joichiro, now visibly anxious pulls up his gun, shouting "I'll kill you!" before attempting to fire at the Tanaka Alien. Joichiro misses, however, and the alien unleashes an extremely powerful screech at him, stunning Joichiro, displacing water and knocking his gun from his hands, essentially lost for good.

Doubly anxious now, the Tanaka Alien comes directly up to his face, screaming "Hey, hey, hey, it's a beautiful day!" and preparing to unleash another powerful screech. Joichiro punches him away, knocking it against the far wall before it bounces off it and back into the water. This causes his suit to malfunction, however, after already being damaged by Kosuke Nakajima. Thus, he resorts to screaming for help from the others up on the bridge, confusing Masaru and Kurono, and earning insults from Tetsuo Nemoto and Kinji Nishikawa.
