Hanbē (半兵衛, Hanbee) is a young, 17-year-old man living in a village during the Edo Period of Japan. His decision to propose to O-haru, heckle Masakichi, and save Okinu from drowning in a river leads him to drown himself and be teleported into the Gantz Room.
Personality[]
Hanbē appears to be very care-free, straightforward, and honest. He has been shown to enjoy several deadly and combative scenarios across the manga like when he smiled while he was fighting the Alien Crows.
He does have some level of bashfulness as shown when he blushes during his marriage proposal to O-Haru.

Miyamoto Musashi Alien Mission[]
Meeting Masakichi and death[]
As he turns 17, he decides that it is time to get married, so he proposes to O-haru. She tells him that she is in fact in love with Masakichi. This leaves him dumbfounded, so he decides to leave and go meet Masakichi.
He finds him training with his sword in the woods and challenges Masakichi to a wrestling match, but gets ignored. He decides to go ahead and start a fight with him. As they began to fight, they were interrupted by a couple of kids asking for help. They learned a little girl had fallen into a river, so both of them quickly jumped in to save them. They worked together to save the her, but then got caught in the river's strong current, and both of them die by drowning.
Teleported into the Gantz Room[]
As they are teleported into the temple that holds the Gantz Room, they are greeted by twelve persons who died before them, six of them appear to be swordsmen, three other young men appear to be religious, and two young kids. Soon after, The Princess is teleported too, and not too long after, the Gantz:E Veteran. She quickly starts telling them that they are not death, to which he asks for a proof, which she answer by picking him up and throwing him too the side, for his own amusement. She tells them that they must do everything that she says, like putting on the suit, to which he complies, just before being teleported into the mission zone.
The Mission begins[]
As the mission begins, he stays with the Veteran and they fight off a group of Crow Aliens, it is at this moment when he shows his true strength, being able to help the Veteran, which gains in a compliment as she tells him that he is incredibly strong. She them reminds him that they are in fact, not death, and that they must rescue as many members of the team as they can, for they need to beat the boss if they wish to return. As they approach the rest of the group, they find that one of them has already been killed, to which he jumps in and lands a flying kick against one of the crow aliens, and the fight ensues. After the rest of the crow aliens are killed by him and the Veteran, they recover a couple of X-Rifles.
At this moment, he asks the Veteran where is to boss, to which she answer that he will appear son, ignoring the fact that he had just show himself to Masakichi.
